If the plan is to measure
length, width, and depth,
of a woman’s infallible heart,
be warned and advised
there is danger beside
the “every which way”
a body must go.

There are corners and straights,
mountains and chasms,
and unending rivers of feel
with no known reason for being.

There are caves impenetrably dark
with hazard too many to say
and the miles to go to the end
a fearsome walk for the brave.

Don’t set your sights on easy delights;
there’s a standard you have to maintain
before the lay on of hands
can open the door to more.

And then the final surrender
up and unto love
but before you begin, read statute one ~

only the wise know measurements lie
when mind the yardstick to guide!

martyjo - thank you!  I also read a lot without replying to everything because of time restraints and then when I do have the time there's more and more to read.  It is true that time is moving quicker these days - or maybe it's because of age.

Dixie - thank you so much.  I do appreciate your comments as I do your poetry.

Hi Helen....You got it right...perhaps not only for woman but for everyone.  I think it's respect of self that offers the ability to give in love the way your poem so beautifully explains.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments.  I guess it will take a lifetime to measure a heart without the benefit of ... insight and love.
