In a state of disrepair...

A pill for you or two
Or any number you
May care to name.
Perhaps there still remains
Veracity in vicodin and valium.

But then you say that
I cannot know or even guess
The lure of deadened emptiness.
So decide to rot and to let things go
An easy choice and made alone

Yet harder on its path
Than you would ever care to know.
To use old dice to drink yourself
Into a cynic state and early grave.
It leaves me laughing wistfully

Old friends make new history
And looking on is hard to take
Even if your bourbon's bitter laced
So find another living road to walk
You'll quickly find that mine is paved with hurt.

Hangovers are nature's way of preparing us for liver failure.

Infants with drugs
Pacified by slugs
Inserted far into ears
Cried normal fears.
