I took him to the park
and down to the bay,
he said, in his entire life
it was his most relaxing day.

He always looks at me,
oddly and out of line,
I'm beautiful and he loves me,
he tells me all the time.

What is it with men and roses
and stuffed animals they give?
And cards that say "without you
I don't want this life to live"

I just shrug it off and say
let's go to the beach to see if we can find
a sand dollar not broken by crashing waves.

I doubt it. Life isn't all that kind.

Expectation-Reciprocation-Modification?
Hummm…
Thought provoking write!
Enjoyed.

I've found one or two in my lifetime but then I don't get to the beach often enough for my liking as I live too far inland for this old seawomans blood. Nice thoughts in this piece and far more between the lines than the words on the paper...yes, life is unkind but once in a while it throws us a line just to keep us from drowning in sorrow...grab the line and hang on for your life
