This poem is to celebrate the first collaboration of KitMcCallum and Balladeer in over 2 years. Welcome back, Kit. We've missed you....
.
.
Da Dum, she tapped ... Da Dum again ... Knock-Knocking on his door,
"It's been too long." she begged aloud, then knocked a little more;
The rhythm seemed to swallow her - she always loved a beat,
When poetry came calling, she could NOT contain her feet!

The meter flowed and bounced about ... the words jumped off the page,
"To do this right", she smiled and grinned, "I need my friend – my sage!"
She rang the bell, she yelled his name, she called him out to play ...
"Oh please!", she cried, "The time is right! Let's get this underway!"

How long had he been cooped up, sitting silent in his room
Lights turned down low with not a sound to permeate the gloom?
How long since she'd been gone? Fact is he didn't really know.
He only knew his partner and his friend had had to go.

The gentle tap came out of nowhere, knocking at his door
And he ignored it, as he had so many times before.
But wait! The tap came once again. He recognized that beat!!
"It's her!", he screamed out loudly as he jumped up to his feet.

She paced along the porch, the rhythm dancing in her head,
“Two years have passed,” she thought aloud, “Perhaps he thinks I’m dead!”
She traced her steps back to the door and tried one final chance,
Tap-Tapping out the rhythm of their old familiar dance.

Persistently, she rapped his beat – this poet’s favorite code,
In hopes that he could not resist when inspiration flowed;
Just when she thought of giving up ... she heard a scream inside!
A thump! A crash! (A curse or two!) The door burst open wide!!!

He couldn't believe his eyes. "It's you!", he stammered with delight.
"Just knowing that you're still alive gives me the will to write!."
"I've missed your metered rhythms and your incandescent wit."
"I can't create good poetry if I don't have my Kit!"

He took her hand in his and bid his friend to come inside.
Wastebaskets filled with failed attempts were roughly pushed aside.
The curtains then were opened wide to unfamiliar light.
As they sat down together and he smiled, "ok, let's write!"

She blurted out two stanzas, she could not contain her glee,
She passed it off with grins galore ... it was a sight to see!
He bounced it back with lightening speed – he didn’t skip a beat,
Then back and forth, the paper flew ... Tap-tap, dip, sway … repeat!

They laughed and joked, they twirled those pens, no hidden grand designs,
They Rumba’d through the opening, then Waltz’d between the lines,
They Cha-Cha’d ‘tward finish line, with rhymes and beat in tow,
Just sheer unbridled pleasure as they Tango’d to and fro.

So that's the way it is, old friends. The gates have opened wide.
The 'Deer and Kit are back together, writing side by side,
Exploring brand new avenues to ply their poetry.
What new adventures will they find? You'll have to wait and see.

This is delightful - I love the music theme.  I am so glad that you two are back together and writing -- we will all smile as you share.

Such a gift.

Inspiration is most precious and I'm happy to read poetry when each is the other's muse and they are so in-tune.

Love,
reg

My deerest friends, I'm picturing
You dancing at the ball
Poetic hands are joined once more
A vision for PiP's all
Those quills uncovered once again
You'd both best hold on tight
We're waiting here impatiently
To read the words you'll write

How wonderful to see the merging of your words again here on the blue pages. The Widow's Walk is still one of my favorites...perhaps because I got to witness some of this dance in person

Thank you soooooooooo much everyone for the warm responses and the lovely "welcome homes". This truly IS home ... and I've missed you all so much.

Michael and I decided to type a little something to get “back in the groove”. From here ... we’re off on some great adventures. I’m having so much fun. I haven’t smiled this much in ages!

Thank you for remembering the fun we used to have ... I hope we can live up to the great memories and wonderful comments and expectations (now I’m getting nervous Michael, rofl).

OK, here we go, just for fun, ‘cause I can’t stop it now (and that feels so good).

It seems as though the gates have opened, wider than before,
I’m tapping to the rhythm, like I never have before,
This writer’s block that held me captive for eternity,
Has burst the dams ... "‘Bout time!"  I cried, "I’ve lost my sanity!"

But there it was, just brewing ‘neath the chasm of my mind,
That long forgotten friend ... My muse ... whom I could never find,
I was so thrilled, I had to call upon the Balladeer,
To let this loose “alone” would be a fate I knew I’d fear.

So tap-tap-tap, I knocked upon my friend’s familiar door,
In hopes that he would greet me as he always did before.
To my delight, he let me in, and grinned with open arms,
So ladies, watch your hearts ... that ‘Deer is set to use his charms.

A great big thanks and much appreciation,
/Kit

me with your writing just as much as ever!
I'm so glad to see this when I wandered in here
tonight. Can hardly wait to see more and more!!

Love that new picture, too, Michael.
