Darling Now

"To live is to know love."

I remember the
night so well.

It was the first
time that I admired
her ponytail.

She wants to call
me darling now,
and I don't mind.

She can call me
darling anytime.

I guess when all said and done a ponytail is a ...safe thing to admire. And who knows perhaps that hair line compliment got you to first, second or third base.

a good commitee can decimate communication.

Thank you Kethry and Drauntz for the nice responses...I can remember admiring her ponytail as if it were yesterday, but it was many years into our relationship before she started calling me darling...however she has called me and still uses some other endearing names that I love, such as sweetpie and honeypie and I still enjoy calling her Suziepie...James

Thank you passing shadows for the nice response...
Actually there are at least one million of us, we came from the planet Romantic and our mission is to romanticize planet Earth...I believe 500 were assigned to the Florida area...so watch out...they have your picture...they're looking for you...ha...ha...James

There is the sweetest simplicity and innocence to this piece James. A lot said in very few words. Much enjoyed!

Best wishes,
/Kit

James
can you tell me if any of those men from the planet Romantic are in the desert?
Maybe one... just one?

James,

I just adore your poetry.  You have so much versatility in your writing!  It always comes out so smoothly and well paced, no matter what style or topic.  Sometimes, you take us on adventures and at other times, you invite us into that one moment of focus, as if in a still life.  I never can predict what I'll read when I click onto your name.   Just to let you know, you're one of my favorites here.   If you haven't published a book of your poems, I hope some day you'll consider it.  You have something for everyone.
