Lumpy Oatmeal makes me Crazy!

Dear Gentle Readers
( I have always wanted to write that.  Isn't it sweet - a bit cloying, but sweet.)

This poem is not directed to any person within PiP.  It is written about a real life situation, using poetry as way to express feelings I wanted to release.

Thank you.

Poetic Revelation

I once wanted you to like me
I once wanted you to care
I shared my deepest feelings
But, still, you just weren’t there

I once wrote in a different style
I once tried many different ways
But no matter how much I grew
Silence was all you had to say

I once read works of poetic masters
I once put myself to every test
I framed my heart with paper rhymes
I continued to put forth my very best

I woke as if from a writer’s dream
I read every printed page
Something was sorely lacking
It’s as if I had lost my way

I sat and thought about it
Of all the words that we have shared
Sometimes you just were clueless
You don’t see how much I cared

My poems were sounding empty
The stark pages were way too white
Each line is a part of who I am
Perhaps it is me who you don’t like

Actually, it no longer really matters
Honestly, I no longer really care
I thought I didn’t like how I wrote
But hey! It’s you I can not bear

I now write to fill my desires
I now write to learn and stretch and grow
Sometimes I rhyme, sometimes I don’t
I write to share and not for show

Alison

To gain respect  from those we love we have to be ourselves and trite as it sounds, "To your own self be true". "Too late we learn".

Enjoying your writing, martyjo

Alison, no matter how much we strive to write like the masters or with correct form/style, the one thing I also have learned, is writing is always best when coming from the heart.  This is lovely A.  Well done.  Hugs.

Not only have you used your poetry as a way to release emotions as you mentioned Alison ... but you've done it very well. This had a lovely flow to it ... and the message is one many of us here can appreciate. Much enjoyed.

Best wishes,
/Kit

glad you're writting for you now instead of for others, it's very nice you really protrayed your emotions.

Loved it!  We all could benefit from a little "reality check" every so often... Your poem reminds me that I may be a bit overdue

Thank you all for reading.  It felt really good to write.  Know what I mean?  Sometimes it just feels so good to put it out there in a poem.

I am appreciating you all as fellow PiP writers - and am happy to be among you.

Again, thank you.

interesting, thought-provoking ‘write’!

I particularly admire:

the line:  “I woke ... from a writer’s dream”

and:

“I now write to fill my desires
I now write to learn and stretch and grow”

As well as:

“I once read works of poetic masters
I once put myself to every test
I framed my heart with paper rhymes…”

applause!!
