Lost

Among the shadows, dark and grave,
A wilderness of frozen stone;
In remnants of a life I once did crave
I find myself cold, tired, and alone.

Where is the Light?  The Joy?  The Hope?
The Love that once was shared?
How did I end up on this slippery slope,
Above a chasm of empty despair?

Have I been Forsaken?  Left behind
In this wasteland of shattered dreams?
No warmth, no light to comfort my mind
I waste away in Time’s merciless streams.

A prisoner of the Darkness,
Into this never-ending night I am bound;
Until I can find my own forgiveness,
And light the path that I may also be found.

~you reached inside, you touched my heart,
and I am all the better for it~

Terry...what a joy to click on your poem and finally see the handsome face to connect to words I've cherished over the years I feel the deep sense of loss in these words here. Love is so hard to find and even harder to lose...but loss of love is not loss of self, it took me a long time to figure that one out. So...lost? ...maybe just misdirected at this time and they don't make maps to cover that. Glad to see you writing but hope to see you writing in a happier light soon
(hugs)
Ruth

I am nothing special...and my name will soon be forgotten,but I've loved another with all my heart and soul,and to me,this has always been enough.~N.S

Terry, oh how these lines ache ~

"How did I end up on this slippery slope,
Above a chasm of empty despair?"

~ an exceptionally sad, yet highly poetic, piece of writing.

Giving you an extra hug-o-love,

Linda
