The march is merciless and these
tickings echo maddening
the pounding of my head in dreams
stomping facist - a regime--
the only discipline I have
is the haunting myriad
flickering upon the screens
of my eyelids ruthlessly
begging for a credit roll
the lunatic is in control
of sleep's asylum, yet again.
Check the time
It's two a.m.
or is it Wednesday
once again?
The roaches are Jack Nicholsen
taunting me in grin.

Where is my big Indian?
I need the pillow pressed to tight
against my useless struggling
that I might sleep, free tonight--

a slice of Juicy Fruit.

Dream sweet, bro.

serious funny. I love the words and the tune.

I shall sing a song but out of tune, so your ear would close and your eye would see flying sheep
and hold them in your sweet dream.

have a very good dream.
I wonder if you have the  book called "The Universe in a Nutshell" by Hawking. or the "seat of the soul". I can't understand at all. but they are better than the pill to put one to sleep. Try it!!!!!

LOL... If I didn't know better, I'd swear you must be in New Orleans! (tongue firmly lodged in cheek *G*)

serenity,

I love your poetry!  The movement and command of your rhythm and sound just overwhelm me!  Perfection to my ears!  You amaze me with your thoughts, study, and careful word choice.   You make it look so easy...  and I know it's not s.e.!

One for Alicat, but enjoyed by others like me who have had those restless nights.  I almost highlighted the same lines as suthern, but I saw she had.  Very vivid mental pictures!!!!  cool write...

Until,

misce

I think I had that kind of night last night...at first remembering the weirdness of it but as the morning continued it faded...

I'm now convinced I've been on a trip with you...perhaps "Purple Haze" was our mode of transportation that night.....

thanks, all

I did recycle the line about roaches looking like Jack Nicholsen, which I used once before in a poem--I stole that from my son, who was once held immobile in the bathtub by a particularly large palmetto that he insisted looked like Jack, in The Shining. (My son was about six then.)

Thank you all for reading, and your patience, as I must have typed myself to sleep--I've been spending more time over there--> where my bed is, than here.

Fun stuff? *laughing* There are reasons why some of us don't sleep so well!

Love to all, with my eternal gratitude...especially to the Alicat, who holds my hand a lot of days, with much tolerance regarding the resulting insanity that spews forth from me on the days of "nosleep".

every night the question is
sleep or no sleep?

and you do make it look easy
