I saw an oriole today
and then he flew away.
He sat in a tree,
he sang to me,
and then he flew away.
So much of life,
it seems to me,
happens just that way.
Friends come for a time,
they laugh and play,
and then they fly away.

they are like that
they sit like birds
on summer branches
then the dead winter
finds them no more
