Forever In Your Heart

Hidden beneath the dirt,
awaiting discovery,
years of trees growing,

Across the fields of gold,
rocks and mountains remain,
shaped and formed by many winds.

Human lives come and go,
time passes, moves quickly,
but the stories,

oh stories,
of trees, rocks, and mountains,
hidden deep within the center of
each,

longing to be told,
can you hear them whisper?
they will remain,

Long after we are gone,
telling stories of love,
carved into a tree,

A rock near a beach,
where couples sat,
holding eachother
throughout the night.

Mountains for taking
long walks, that protected
soldiers who were in danger.

Silently they are speaking,
if you sit quiet long enough,
to hear what they are saying,

Your heart would be filled,
with wisdom from centuries past,
with enough stories to write a book.

Thank you for your kind reply!

J. M. Barrie, the playwright, may have said it best when he wrote, “God gave us memories so that we might have roses in December.”

As a geologist, I can’t help but LOVE this ‘write’!

particularly:

“oh stories...

longing to be told,
can you hear them whisper?
they will remain,

Long after we are gone...”

“Silently they are speaking,
if you sit quiet long enough,
to hear what they are saying,

Your heart would be filled,
with wisdom from centuries past”

What Tennyson said:

“There rolls the deep where grew the tree
O mother Earth, what changes hast thou seen!
There where the long street roars,
Hath been the stillness of a silent sea.
The hills are but shadows, and they flow
From form to form, and nothing stands;
They melt like mist, these ‘solid’ lands,
Like clouds they shape themselves and go!...”

Serious applause for this ‘write’!
