Sad, Lunar Eyes
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

Moondrops are raining from sad, lunar eyes,
While unsettled seas drink the tears that she cries.
The night swallows up all her strength and her pride,
As she pines for the love, that had ebbed with the tide.

~*~

Encircling arms, were once comforting and warm.
A protective safe haven ~ her port in a storm.
Now churning black waters and turbulent skies,
Were threatening her with an untimely demise.

A gale came squealing from the highlands up north,
And towering waves tossed the lass back and forth.
She was dragged like a rag doll along rocky shoal,
As she clung on to life and to last vestige of soul.

Broken and lifeless, her body washed up on shore,
But her sad, lunar eyes would not cry any more.
Her spirit now wails and screams with the wind,
As she longs for her lover who had mortally sinned.

~*~

Moondrops are raining from sad, lunar eyes,
While unsettled seas drink the tears that she cries.
The night swallows up all her strength and her pride,
As she pines for the love, that had ebbed with the tide.

Love is the unifying force which integrates
one’s soul with that of another.
~ Linda L. Dowd

Such a tragic sadness, but innate understanding of life’s misfortune.
You are a compelling read Ms. Dowd.

(PS I would be proud to row your boat any day...)

Sad but beautiful, Linda.  Oh, yes, those loves that ebb with the tide - we all have known them.

(angel friendship hugs) Oh Linda, although I've never really had an earnest experience with love, ever so often my heartstrings and imagination tend to get tangled together on certain days, where longing for ever so long makes it feel as though endless cycles of unrequited love ebb at my heart's shores, and it is as though I can hear her voice through the conch shell, but don't know how to reach her and comfort her! (sad sigh) Of course no yearning can ever match the tragedy of lovers who truly are unfortunate victims at sea literally, but I can understand how every sensitive, poetic spirit can universally identify with such feelings as these! God Bless You, dearest friend, this is so emotionally earnest and poignant, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Hi, Sue! Yes, 'tis sad, indeed! I actually dreamed this scenario and started writing it upon awakening the next morning. Perhaps it was a memory of a past life!

Noah ~

" sensitive, poetic spirit" ~ and that is a apt description of yourself. That sensitivity shows in all that you write. ~ Your songs, poetry ~ and your replies.
