Listening to every heart

Mother’s Ring Day

There was a brief moment in time
when we were five in circular rims of life;
our names beginning with initials

E, J, K, K, M…

each generation known on the planet
but for a moment at one time,
although in reality, all hands
had only touched four in circle…

E to J to K to K, then
J to K to K to M
and I thought of this,
as it is coming on mother’s day,

a time to circle, a time
so close to this never ending,
rending pain of loss…
and fulfillment of love.

J was lost to E before her time;
second K was gone before first K could finish
any teachings;
M was left by second K, with some hope
that first K could help raise
M who still lived in E’s time.

M was held as a baby by J,
a moment of god’s belief
of bliss.
Some silent prayer given from J’s lip to
M’s ear…something only imagined…or heard…
it’s hard to know,
let            alone.

If there were to be a mother’s day wish,
I would throw several pebbles
simultaneously into a pond,
to watch the circles
encompass one another…
and        know
that we are all circled in love.

" It matters not this distance now  " Excerpt, Yesterday's Love

K

Your words and the lovely expression of your poem -- make me think -- of M and C and H and me.  And wonder if I should try one more time.

Thank you.

Me, too, SIL, me, too.  I was reminded of something I had not thought of in years when I read your poem.  That's what your poems always do to me...remind me of home.  It was the initials of everyone in my family's first names....RASRJC...somehow, Mom had turned those six initials into a name for our farm and now, I'm trying with all my might to remember what it was...must have thrown another A in their (being our last name)....hmmmm....well, I can't remember....will have to call mom tomorrow...now I will not sleep!  *hugs*...jo

your writes always take me back, to family, childhood, remembering how fortunate we all were to grow up in the era we did...it was a marvelous childhood...loving parents....neighbors who watched over us and were like family also....so much to do and see....

remembering through your words...

hugs
and thank you for writing

Karilea, you are the Norman Rockwell of poets.

May your Mother's Day, be a memorable one.

Dear Sissie

Circles are so important.  I think you know that on the bracelets that Taylor and I exchanged on our 25th anniversary are the words, "circles are forever".

Touched and touching always, your poetry.

Kari darling heart this is without doubt one of your golden pieces, a ring of love circling around us all.  Its touch across my soul is beautiful, and oh the way you spin a line into magic. I love it utterly, utterly, utterly. What can I say but this is utterly divine.

You always could encircle me with wonder
Love and warm stuff

Tomorrow is another day I don't know what it holds
but I can face the future with courage brave and bold

One good thing about circles dear...they never end Wonderful words from your pen and knowing a bit of background behind this...a good healing piece

I am nothing special...and my name will soon be forgotten,but I've loved another with all my heart and soul,and to me,this has always been enough.~N.S
