standing on a shadow's lace

To Be Home

it is true
I just may be crazy
or maybe it is that I am
past understanding
for this …
sanity is given up
in a minute
for days find me
mulling over Mississippi
on a porch in a house
of wood painted white
where I can hear the sound
of grass slowly growing
I can see you there
so plainly smiling relaxed
dirt smudge splashed across
your face gleaming
living where you dreamed
but never thought to be
flowers stand in neat lines
awaiting your sweet caress
as silver tresses and pines
blow carelessly in the wind
tomatoes in the back ripen
in contrasting colors
I can hardly smell the air
from my heart being in my throat
and here I am
watching it all
with my pad and pen
thinking damn it is so good
to be home

“but I'm so hard to handle
I'm selfish
and I'm sad”…Joni Mitchell

I don't know of anyone who does free verse as well as you do Helen

once you, always you.
A beautiful piece again and so smoothly flows around, around to get the summer heat away from my head.

thank you. it is truly a beautiful one.

I can see you there . . .
and wish I could look over your shoulder
as you write

ya know
a poem always leaves a taste in my mouth

some are salty
some are tart
and some are just too sweet

but this
this was delicious !

Well done !

a MOST fine 'write!'

[grand, very 'real' imagery,
  quite emotive and powerful]

MUCH applause!
