I am a red winged imagination
on the tip of your finger
able to fly
only on your breath

I fill my eyes with your light
lick salt from your hand
feet move
as I await your pleasure

you do not cup me in safety
nor palm me
but leave me suspended
by my own hope
knotted in my dreams

then
touch of your lips

just as my heart thinks to flutter
you fold my wings
tuck me
as you would a pair of glasses
into the shirt pocket of your complacency
where I lie
until once again I gain your finger
aware
if you but rub your eye

I will be lost forever

Oh, Lady,

this one is marvelous.

"just as my heart thinks to flutter
you fold my wings
tuck me
as you would a pair of glasses
into the shirt pocket of your complacency
where I lie"

How beautifully said the hope and hopeless all together and hopeless and hope again.

I love this one very much.
beautiful and again beautiful

Kate.. most elegant and lovely...

I fill my eyes with your light
lick salt from your hand
feet move
as I await your pleasure

...reflects much adoration and unconditional Love... truely heart melting.

I especially love the 1st line!:

“I am a red winged imagination”

and:

“my...hope
knotted in my dreams” :

also, the following is truly grand!:

“you fold my wings
tuck me...
...into the shirt pocket of your complacency”

a fine ‘write’!

A beautiful poem, Kate, as all your work is.  I hope you will forgive me for saying that you deserve so much better than to be treated like that.
