You've been dead for years
in realms so unreal to you
Try though I did,
I simply couldn't reach you

It's not at all fair to blame you
although I will admit, I do
There was just so much you couldn't have
and you probably never knew

Now all I have are memories
mysteries and fantasies
Never resolved, lies and tears
endless fears
...and just fractured pieces
-of you

I wonder if you carried
tiny fragments of me
If they wore you down
the way they have completely
worn through me

Reverberating damages...
pockets (and heart) full of debris
"Love" wrapped in bandages
did you also bleed?

Whatever may have happpened
those slivers of the past
won't allow me to be cold
so it breaks my heart to know
that of all things...

...you died alone...

I wonder if you had the time
the conscience or the capacity of mind
to realize that time was slowing down
and winding to an end
did you cry out to god, your mother
or your soon-vanished "friend"?

I cradle my best memory of you
-for comfort

...still cannot understand
cannot believe she'll never see your face or hold your hand
never hear her cry out "Daddy"
who will walk her down the aisle?

who will answer all her questions
when she's no longer a child???

could you at least picture her in your mind
did you perhaps whisper her name?
did you tell her daddy loves her?
did it anguish you the same
to know what our little girl has lost?
what you've done cannot be undone
and now, look at the cost
a blessing and a burden
solely mine to bear
although it's been this way all along
cuz you were never there
I can't help to blame you

I Know...

it isn't fair.

X-

this is soooooo beautiful. Only a decent heart can sing out this kind of song. very touching.
touch deeply.

The first half, 'I' talked to "her".
the last half 'I' is self-talking. you="I" .
very typical for a sad heart.

Prisms reveal the layers and depth of the multi-dimensional facets of both the writer and his/her subject.
This was truly a poignant multi-faceted write. Welcome to Passions.
