I don't keep my poetry anymore.
No use for saving words.
Take it if I give it
or feed it to the birds.

I'm not a poet anymore.
Life has left me dry.
I've grown to accept it all as is
and not bother asking why.

True, the answers aren't in a bottle,
they aren't anywhere at all,
I'm halting the search for my own good,
don't have the heart to climb the wall.

Stick a fork in me, I'm done.
I'm taking a nap and know
nothing will have changed when I wake,
the process is too slow.

I've grown to accept the fact
that life tragic, continues on,
and that you won't be there
when I've all but gone.

You are a poet - can't escape it and the words?  Well, they are stored here and in my mind and heart.  You touch me with the sadness inside you - and that is what makes you a poet.

but it is a process even if slow...just look at me...how long it is taking to get on my feet.

read. kind of sad.

I can never say that I enjoy a sad pome. the well expressed sadness often make myself sad.
then I try to read some jokes to switch my mind.
I can't be a poet.

wish you well.

Beautiful Angel Dixie, this is so extremely sad. But as long as you are able to write like this, you ARE a poet and being a poet means also that the healing process is activated.
Love and hugs.

What a beautiful ache you've written!!! I fear the birds will have to stay hungry... I'm keeping this! *S*

And... as others have said... yes, the process is agonizingly slow... but it is a process... May that nap renew and refresh you! *S*

the process is slow
the sadness is full
and you are a poet
and always will be

you know those words won't leave you alone

it's good to say "I'm sad"
no matter how

My fellow Poet!

Your word have touched many, Your sadness here is profound... and I feel it... i've been there and I am only 37... YOU ARE A POET!

giving up is letting go of the beauty that still lives with in you.  If you did not have that beauty... these words you write would NOT hae meaning.

You are inspired by your sadness.. and tragic existence if you will.... but that is want makes you a POET!  A person who expresses feeling-even if they are sad..

Don't give up the fight, it is only the beginning to your journey... you will heal, we all have..

Dear Dixie, when you start to love yourself more than anyone else, when you know it is them that are lucky to have you around, that is when your misery will stop dead. Remember that you are special here on earth, time is short and the blessing is one we should nurture and rejoice with. Write something for yourself, add all your blessings and a list of things you would like to do with the years and of things that you can not change; work toward the like to do’s and lock the can’t do’s and passed hurts away. Each morning on waking, tell yourself “Today is going to be wonderful” bring out your higher self and take control of your own happiness; our happiness is our own responsibility, not anyone else’s. My friend, we all harbor sadness, we all live with our regrets, we all often forget that the future lies in our own hands.

My words are from experience
And that’s all I can share
I hope they help to set you free
To find what’s lost in there

Goodluck Dixie

the great detail of caring and concern in these replies is just overwhelming to me and I imagine always will be

roller coasters go up and then down again, and I'm on the down side of this one, just losing my job for doing nothing wrong but trusting someone, things are looking bleak.

But I know I'll make it through...thanks to each of you for such wonderful support and reaching out

Dear Dixie

Rick had some important things to say, but to do is not always as easy.  I think when you are done with down you'll find the way to up.

As for being a poet...a poet writes a poem that expresses what's in their heart, as you have always done and still do.  Don't fight the muse!

Such a sad scribe...a scribe nonetheless and a poet you are.  I believe we are all poets, we may not express ourselves in the same manner or even feel alike, but as long as emotion runs deep within us - we are poets.

Blessings

Dear Dixie, I lost the job I changed into a couple of months ago, but have found that that was not where I belonged, I did work from home and then found a job completly different than to what I had done before, today I find a pleasure in that change and the change in myself. You will find the right place to be and meet new people to share life with. Hang in there Dixie, there is lots of love here and we are sharing it all with you, when in need and when not.

Rick
