Bought of Thought

Look backwards now, where’er you go,
especially if it’s ‘to and fro’,
for if your ‘to’ becomes your ‘fro’
you’ll know the way that you should go.

Look forward on the road of life
especially if it’s full of strife,
for if your life is only strife
you’ll find no comfort in past life.

Look forward to a time of leisure
especially if you’ve had no pleasure,
for leisure then will bring you pleasure,
you’ll find you’ll really welcome leisure.

Look, how you ask, am I to know,
especially searching ‘to and fro’,
for though I’ve searched both ‘to and fro’,
you’ll find that pleasure I don’t know.

I’ll tell you it’s found in your mind,
especially hard for you to find,
for if you look, I know you’ll find,
you’ll find it waiting in your mind.

I’ll have to stop and search my mind
especially if it’s there to find
for if I stop, for it to find,
you’ll find I then explore my mind.

I’ll relax now, I’ve found in thought,
especially what I always sought,
for now I know the thing I sought,
you’ll see my pleasure, bought of thought.

It lives the full spectrum of time, the future, the present and past.

Good lines, Ivor.

Forward indeed...
leave the night to dreams
of past...

I'd always pay more than a penny for your thoughts ~ for they stir my own and cause them to 'grow' forth and multiply!

Thanks for all the replies, I don't know if it's apparent but I had great fun with the structure of this one (end rhymes etc.) and the nonsenable confusion of the verse.

Glad a few of you managed to hold onto the roller coaster long enough to reach the end of the rhyme!

This is very clever, catchy rhyming scheme and well-formed...thanks for entertaining me.

Spitit,

Glad you enjoyed this, I'm still trying to understand it!

Marge,
This left me a little bit dizzie, but I'm getting too old for rides now anyway.

I am still busy editing my work and using this site to repost (with just the odd new one popping in)  I do intend publishing eventually but with the way I ramble I have no way of sorting what's what.....

I'll probably just mix it all into a big melting pot!

I'm dreading my muse joining me again full time or I'll never get around to it as then writing becomes adictive....

Ivor
