I hide behind the largest
Softest
Stone I find,

Waiting for the day
To creep her ugly
Skirt up, full mast.

I succumb inside myself
And scratch away
Outside.
Waiting for a gleam
Of light to break
Through.

Shine your light into
All the dark places.
I once asked.

I can’t find the light
Anymore.
And the more I scratch,
The more I fold
In.

I fold in to myself.
Hidden deeper still.

Megg.

I read this twice and am sure I would even find greater meaning the more I read it.  Very impressive write and title.  Your poem is powerful.

I, too, welcome you to pipTalk.  I hope you enjoy it here as much as I do.  Welcome!

Hi Meggen.  I have read quite a few of your poems and have enjoyed them, but haven't replied to more than a couple, as I have been giving myself time to understand - at least a little - the way your complex mind works(that sounds so very pompous - as if I actually could understand the way another thinks! - but I don't mean "understand" more than at least superficially).

I enjoyed this one and liked your imagery.  I find it very sad, though, in spite of your saying above another of your poems that you are normally a cheery person and that your latest poems are sad.  This one shows more than a momentary sadness, and that worries me.  You are obviously an extremely interesting person who should not be withdrawing into yourself, but celebrating the benefits of your gifted abilities to enjoy life.  I say that not as a criticism, but with regard to the joys you deserve.
