icebox inspired this with his "Whispering at Vespers".  I hope he doesn't mind that this inferior work cites his poem.
Past Is

Past is a place we never were,
future a place we may never see,
and now balances
on the cusp of fate.

And love sometimes comes
too late.

"future a place we may never see,"

~ Sad, but true.

"and now balances
on the cusp of fate."

~ Truly profound.

"And love sometimes comes
too late."

~ Better late than never!

I'm sure that our dear box of ice will be flattered that his poem inspired this lovely one!

Loving hug,
Linda
