Rec'd this from a friend >

Hey Abe,
How about one for Blue Angle 6? In 1981 as an Air Traffic Controller (AC), I was the Senior Facility Watch Supervisor at NAF El Centro where the Blue Angles practiced. They were arrogant, better-than-you, swaggering asses, but they were MINE. Even with all the problems between the base and the Blues, myself and two other controllers received Letters of Appreciation from their squadron. ACs tend to become possessive about the pilots under their control. Like or dislike him or her, they belong to you.

I don’t know any of the current Blue Angles, but the accident caused strong emotions. I knew previous ones and felt the loss.

Then wrote this >

BORN TO FLY
Commander Kevin Davis, R.I.P.

Let's all give a final salute
To the pilot of Blue Angel Six
One of the best of the best
Who do those great precision tricks.

They all know of the dangers
But know there's not another way
To get paid for the work
That's really their way to play.

Every so often the worst happens
And the World will lose a gem
But, they die doing what they love
When the odds catch up with them.

Some say, they are primadonnas
But guess, they have the right to be
One of those best of the best
From sea to shining sea.

All those who have gone before
Will fly in a perfect formation
If you look closely in the sky
Passing over a grateful Nation.

So, we salute you, Kevin
As you race across the sky
You just traded up to different Wings
And a much better way to fly.

Thank you Abe. Commander Kevin Davis was a
graduate of Embry Riddle Aeronautical
University. As I work for ERAU I also feel close to him. Will pass on your poem if okay with you. Martyjo
