Artist: Dante Gabriel Rossetti

Welling Eyes

~ Linda L. Dowd ~

On satin sheets, I lie alone,
with pillow pressed to breast.
I weep and sigh ~ and wonder why,
his vows, he did transgress.

The moon, this night, is cold and clear,
~ Its light bares hidden lies.
The truth I see, with broken heart,
brings tears to welling eyes.

‘Tis early spring, when all be new,
And love shouldst blossom 'n grow.
But his, alas, hast withered and died,
~ I be flooded with sorrow and woe.

~*~

I awoke next morn, bathed in the light,
Of a sparkling, springtime sun.
With scents of flowers and songs of birds,
~ Mine new life had thus begun!

Love is the unifying force which integrates
one’s soul with that of another.

A good guy always wins, but sometimes healing seems so slow...  Eventually, the sun will dry those tears and provide the light and energy, warmth and shelter to go on.

Linda, you almost had me in tears until I read the last verse.  Then, I understood your title better.  I like your play on words there.  So true to optimism you are.

And well you did to let the sun embrace you and dry your tears. In surrendering to what is, healing occurs.
Your wise and beautiful words are a treasure that should be "absorbed" by those who are stuck in a permanent "night".
Your poetical messages are always profound.

Love and hugs.

This is such a beautiful poem. It was sad and then became happy. The last part is so true. Forget the past and start anew. Awesome poem!!!

Poetry is beauty in words.

Linda Lou, every poem is perfection.  It is just too bad we have to experience sorrow to be able to express it so well, huh?  Wishing you a sunny Spring morning.  *big bear hugs*......lily jo

Thank you, my sweet sonneteering friend! Mind you, I much prefer to write from a place of wellness as opposed to that of sadness.

iliana ~

Greetings, lily jo! Yes, the highs can be so much sweeter after having experienced the lowly lows.

But knowing that the good times will roll once again, helps us get through the tough schtuff!

May your road be smooth-rolling and bathed in the light of the sun, moon, and the stars!

Lovesya!

Dante Gabriel Rossetti
is one of my favorite pre-raphael artists...I love his painting..."The Message"

http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/rossetti/beatrix.jpg

and you have so flattered the artist, and his lovely wife...Elizabeth

you have flattered him and he would smile in envy of your insightful, caring and spiritual poems.  Extremely good reading here.   Thank you

Love to you

Lovely Lee ~

How fitting, dear kindred spirit that we should appreciate the works of the same artiste.

Thank you for the link to one of his paintings. He truly was a grand master painter.

May your eyes well only with tears of joy!
