From the Bowels of Hell
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

Galloping across the barren moor,
On a snorting, midnite steed,
A horseman from the bowels of hell,
Sought souls on which to feed.

Demonic eyes of glowing red,
Pierced the dead of night,
Searching for its hapless victims,
~ Too mortified to fight.

Banshees wailed as evil claimed,
The souls of man and beast.
Behind, there trailed a river of red,
In the wake of voracious feast.

An acrid smell assailed the air,
The peat was soaked in blood.
Those not slashed by wielded sword,
Were tromped deep down in mud.

Galloping across the barren moor,
On a snorting, midnite steed,
A horseman from the bowels of hell,
Sought souls on which to feed.

THANK YOU, Linda.  I enjoyed greatly!  I always thought that ghost riders in the sky were chasing the devil's herd.

YO! GIRL!
You do have an exceptional talent to write expressively, but I like your sweet side better…

Thank you for the nice compliment!

~ and I also prefer it when the "sweet" LIGHT side comes through!

Mind you, it was rather fun to write down and dirty, so to speak!

Perfect flow and rhyme! I could here a deep male voice reciting this piece, Like James Earl Jones. Either I'm being visited by extras in my head this morning or this just emitted great vibes!

Well....

It just goes to prove we are more alike than is comfortable!

I have a feeling I know where this came from and maybe it's a wake up call as to the work you still have to do?

Loved the work, wish I had written it, and am sure that it's not the last such piece we'll be reading...

Enjoy your astra travels, but as pointed out in one of my poems (not sure if it's been posted yet) "make sure you mark the way back!"

Namaste

Ivor ~

I do so know what you're talking about regarding the safe return from astral travels!

I've been lost and couldn't find my way home! When I was younger, my 'landings' were hard and terrifying.

I actually prefer to causal travel. The causal plane has beings of Light instead of the many n'er-do-wells one can fine on the astral plane.

My first recollections of astral travelling were when I was only 5 years of age. I literally floated about 3 feet off of the floor and would check on my parents, my little brother and my baby sister.

Thank you for your warm response, dear kindred spirit!

Oh, my heavens! *S* I finished this wondering what in the world you'd been reading before bed... so I couldn't help but smile at your comments. *S*

Whatever the inspiration, it was your talent that harnassed the words into this chilling piece... bravo! *S*

Oh yeah.  Over the top and down the side, watch the demon soldiers ride.  I love this one, girl.

What does preference have to do with it?

One day whilst addressing a meeting
my spirit it went for a ride.
From up in the furthermost corner
I watched what I said from the side.
With a twang in my guts I snapped back then
and wondered just what had I said.
But the audience all semed quite happy
not knowing from where they were fed.

Not 'my' choice I'm afraid,...   LOL
