.

The time has come
As well you  knew it would
When he just isn’t able
To hunt any more

How much that mutt
Loved the fields
Prancing with delight
Among autumn leaves
So neither of us really cared

If rabbit or pheasant
After all was never there
Or managed to slip away

Let’s go old dog
I’ll let you lead
The end isn’t very far

.

This is a very beautiful poem. I read many times and I enjoyed it. It can be expanded to a novel.
***********
In my world, everything talks

“Time"...I do not come and go. What comes and goes is the number on your calendar.

“You”...I can not hunt because I will be shot by
other hunter.

"it"...who am I? I do not know "you".

“He”...Greyhounds are out there.

“Mutt”...Who changed my name?

“us"...what a good old day!

“rabbit”...I’ll come back next Easter. Die or not.

“Pheasant”...I  am not a chicken.  I am always with the nobles who treat me with great manner. generally,  I ride on private vessel.

“old dog”...I learnt new tricks and I still barks. If you want me to be a Husky,  then bring your old stories along on the way.

“I”...what a relaxing day.
