I'll Wait For You

Upon the path to Heaven’s gate
Patiently she stands in wait
She always will be there to greet
Her loved one when his life’s complete

In brightest day or fading sun
She’ll be there when his journey’s done
To welcome him and be his guide
And once again be by his side

So long ago she had to leave
Her sweetheart all alone to grieve
Now sorrow fills her aching heart
For the one with whom she had to part

She waits each day as years roll by
And hurts each time she sees him cry
Memories have dulled the pain
But in his heart she will remain

She longs to hug and hold him tight
To let him know that she’s alright
She knows he misses her so much
And longs to feel her gentle touch

If she could have one final word
To let him know, and rest assured
She’d say “Until your time is through”
“With light in hand I’ll wait for you”

I know this is meant to be a reassuring poem, but for some reason it made me tear up and sniffle.

The images in this are forlorn although I'm sure you didn't mean them to be. However they are also strong powerful images of love...haunting images one (not me) might say.

a good commitee can decimate communication.

Beautiful and poignant. I love these connections that know no boundaries.

I find it a comforting thought that our loved ones who have passed are watching over us and that we will be reunited when our time does eventually come.

A soul-touching piece of poetic penning.
