Unknown Waters
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

I leapt in to unknown waters,
In a defiant leap of faith.
And was swept away in swirling currents,
Like a helpless, wayward waif.

I flailed my arms and gasped for air,
As strong eddies pulled me down.
I could not see the light of day,
And I feared that I would drown.

I had not known the ways of God,
So I searched for understanding.
I felt His love had eluded me,
For my life was so demanding.

I knew that I could sink ~ or swim,
But I lacked the will to fight,
When out of the dark a Hand appeared,
That raised me to the Light.

My spirit burst with loving Light,
As God's presence made me whole.
His healing Hand resurrected me,
And I surrendered all control.

The road I walk still has its stones,
Yet I embrace each blessed day,
For God has sent a band of angels
To guide me along my way.

What a beautifully inspired poetic offering, dear Linda!!
Those unknown waters appear sometimes surprisingly and we fear their insidiousness, but when we remain aware of God's constant presence, we always are guided back into the Light of Faith.

Simply wonderful and uplifting! Thank you for this!

Yes, my Easter was "wonderful".

Although this was my first Easter since the passing of my parents, I was still able to embrace the joys in my life with gratitude. I hope yours was all that you would have hoped it would be. You deserve only the best, my dear friend.

for all the doubt of too many yesterdays and fear of tomorrows while we stand in the quicksands of our todays there comes along a poem to take the power away from those things and people that control our destiny with fear and uncertainty.

as such, this poem did that. with grace, dignity, humility, and genuine love.

now, about tomorrow...

Linda,

An 'intriguing' piece of poetry which seems to tell a story of recovery. I feel there is a lot that has gone into motivating this piece and runs on a parellel to a piece I once wrote on depresion but with different evaluations of the process that led to finding oneself again.

I love poetry that has heart and makes me think and as always I love your rhyming presentation and style.

I am sorry I've not been around for a while and when I get time I really must catch up one what I'm missing....
