Lovely lake-loon,
graceful glider of still-waters,
slipping serenely and silently,
cloaked in finest ivory and ebony.
Ruby red eyes do not disguise
heart-hopes of finding
her solitary mate.
Whispering reeds hide her
anticipation,
until his call is heard.
Then deftly does she guide
her true-love's heart
in patient-await,
listening in thrilled ecstasy
to his dance-trill
of love-notes flipping through the air
offering perfect harmony,
love's rhapsody.

Thank you, dear Kacy, your "lake-loon" is a real treat. I can close my eyes and see and hear what's going on.

A very beautiful love rhapsody!

Love,
Margherita

Well you know here by the ocean we have no choice but to be a little "loony" and our dollar is also a looney!  I loved this one Kacey.

Kacy,

When I was young, I was taken North into Canada.  The loons scared me half to death before I got use to them.

Why is this poem centered?

This fine poet can write the 'voice' of Nature!

I particularly liked:

"graceful glider of still-waters,
slipping serenely and silently,
cloaked in finest ivory and ebony."

And:

'Whispering reeds hide her
anticipation,
until his call is heard.
Then deftly does she guide
her true-love's heart
in patient-await..."

MUCH applause!

If you heard the loons then the poem sang true.
As for centering, why not? LOL, I get bored with everything lined up flush left.

Thank you each for gliding by!

Saved faster than you can say "Looney Tunes" lol

I read it three times in meditative silence. Thanks, I needed that!

Your poetic shows of appreciation for nature's beauty, always make for a spell-binding read!

You are as beautiful as the subjects you write about!

Linda

There is music in this piece and I can hear the call of the loon and trip the light fantastic with it while waiting for spring... although down under at the bottom of the world I may have a long wait.

a good commitee can decimate communication.
