The All of Me

~ Linda L. Dowd ~

Trace mine lips with thy finger tips,
Then press thy moist mouth on mine.
Savor the flavor that lies within,
~ ‘Tis as sweet as strawberry wine.

I dole unto to thee, the all of me,
And with flames that rival the sun.
No other man shall e’er sample these wares,
Until mine last day be done.

Our love be as endless as the rolling seas,
And to thee, I utter these mots,
“I shall stayeth with thee ‘til all rivers run dry,
And last petal doth fall from this rose.”

Love is the unifying force which integrates
one’s soul with that of another.
~ Linda L. Dowd

Wow! It looks like both of us contemporaneously plunged into a pond of passion and emerged with words in the attempt to render LOVE's deep mystery and sacredness.

Wonderful and captivating verses, dear Linda!

Love and hugs.

EA,

Much as happened since last I was here. Seems this fair maiden has ventured into territories that bear the taste of forbidden fruit. Lucky you and thanks for taking me there.

We are both blessed with the love that we deserve! He and I are of the mind that to attract the kind of person that you would like to be with, then one should be the kind of person that would attract the other. It is sort of a "Like attracts like" scenario! I've gone down the "Opposites attract" road, and I much prefer the road I am now on!

Light attracts Light!

Giving you a big hug 'n a half,

Assuredly, a fine ‘write’ of
purest ‘Romanticism’!
[a joy to read!]

I am especially fond of the line:

“Our love be as endless as the rolling seas”

and the graphic image included with this poem
is grand-fine as well!

much applause!

Additionally:   I also like the image of
                    ‘Love’ being the glue
                     that ‘integrates’ souls!

Comments such as you have so gallantly written, are all the more meaningful when I consider the fact that they were written by one of pip's consumate writers of romance!

Thank you!

Loved it Linda..

Can I be a critic and say I would have dropped the 'And' (flames that rival the sun).

Though of course it may be subtle pronunciation difference, but there is nothing subtle about the verse! LOL

Good morning dear poet from across the sea!

A little chuckle escaped my lips when I read your suggestion. I cannot tell you how many times I put the "and" in ~ and then took it out again! I ended up preferring the extra beat, but as you say, it's all in how one is reading the line and where the emphasis is put. It's past the editing window, so it will have to stay as it is.

I appreciate your suggestion and I am always open to them. Readers' suggestions have been very helpful to me.

May you live to love ~ and love to live!

That's so weird! I was thinking about my boyfriend when I read this and as I finished the last line he called Spellbinding, and very captivating.  Love the picture as well!

Linda,

Just been responding to people commenting on my poetry and you would not believe how many times I have this 'extra' type of word and I wished I had left it out!

I feel like a parrot the number of times I have re read (out aloud) my works of this nature since making that comment.....

Are we ever satisfied with our work, I am forever editing mine and some people criticise me for not leaving it in the virgin state to show how I am developing and how I felt at the time of writing.

My main problem is, as an old-school boy I used to start every line with a capital letter (mainly edited now) and I am not sure but sometimes it still seems appropriate.

Please help me before I go mad!

How can someone like myself who is half mad, be of any help in preventing someone like you from becoming likewise!

You're a pet. I suppose we shouldn't be so hard on ourselves. I can near drive myself bananas trying to perfect my poetry! It seems like an impossible task! lol
