Clouds Do Change

I wonder if you
ever think of me
a tender whisper
upon wind free
could have been
a lifetime chance
calm in the face
a hurricane dance
but a sweeter name
passed your lips
and I had the face
of moon eclipse
I gave you my heart
oh, how it flowed
a narrow path
on a broken road
at night do you
now drink alone
a cold inside you
down to the bone
and wake chilled
to the morning
that leads back to
you with a warning

break your heart
playing your game
pretend then depart

the same way

blue to gray
clouds do change
when it rains
does the thunder
echo your pain
