Clouds Do Change

I wonder if you
ever think of me
a tender whisper
upon wind free
could have been
a lifetime chance
calm in the face
a hurricane dance
but a sweeter name
passed your lips
and I had the face
of moon eclipse
I gave you my heart
oh, how it flowed
a narrow path
on a broken road
at night do you
now drink alone
a cold inside you
down to the bone
and wake chilled
to the morning
that leads back to
you with a warning
and did she
break your heart
playing your game
pretend then depart
now leaving you
the same way
you left me
blue to gray
clouds do change
when it rains
does the thunder
echo your pain
or do you still run
from feelings missing
as I face this day
weathering without you
reminiscing

“all romantics meet the same fate”…Joni Mitchell

what a pretty write how it just flows off the tongue!

The ending is fantastic! I can so relate to this, but you knew that.

Very nicely worded Helen...lovely!

For it was not into my ear you whispered
But into my heart..
It was not my lips you kissed
But my soul.

A look back at a sad relationship, done better than I have ever read.
"does the thunder
echo your pain"
I love your descriptiveness.

Tender, achingly beautiful.

"and I had the face of moon eclipse"

This is one of the sweetest lines I've read in a long while Helen.

My child's smile tells me there's still hope
