There's a shadow on the wall today
and I'm losing my grip.
I never really heard you speak
over the faucet's annoying drip.

I suppose I feel brave a bit,
not thinking that I'll fall
though today is just like yesterday
...except for the wall.

It seems I'm always intruding there
on days where I shouldn't be,
on thoughts I can't claim as mine,
a woman that's just not me.

I try to ignore the shadow
and pardon the intrusion,
try to keep the meter running
away from a conclusion

and try to see tomorrow now,
believe it's not the same,
but I only have a shadow there
and there's no one left to blame.

I can particulary 'relate' to the following:

"and try to see tomorrow now,
believe it's not the same,
but I only have a shadow there
and there's no one left to blame."

much applause on this 'write'....
[from one who has had a mostly 'dark' poetic day!]

Dear shadowy Dixie,
this is a very powerful poem. Deep in its expressed consciousness.

When you individuate the shadow, the light is right there inviting you to focus on it.

Love and hugs.

You make me want to reach out and just hug tightly.  It's sad - but it's a wonderful poem.

I am a fan!

I don't mean to make anyone sad or for this to be a sad write here, just how I feel, that's all

going through some hard times right now but at least I'm breathing

thanks for the wonderful replies and hugs

I often write of the world and the hand I have been dealt - but its then that I realize in the midst of my pity party - how some others have it far worse than I.

it is then I am grateful for what little I've been given... and know that I am glad to have it so great.

Dixie, whilst I feel the pain and sadness and ache on your behalf, I saw what I knew would be there - the inimitable courage and determination and the success of Dixie.  It just worries me that you don't see it enough and that you chastise yourself - but just read your poem as though you are one of us, and then you will see the courage and determination and success there, shining bright!  Own it and celebrate it.  By all means, feel sad when you need to, but, at the same time, recognise the Dixie the rest of us know.

Smiles and hugs.

Remember, Darlin' Dixie, there has to be light in order for there to be a shadow cast!

first realize if you can, it is nothing more then a growth...
I know this sounds really wierd, but when one can learn to embrace the pain, as well as when we embrace the magnificance and celebrate both...it is an astounding awakening....

love to you for such an emotional and dead honest write....

Hugs
