When She Whispers
~*Marge Tindal*~

When SkyeLara whispers her wisdom-wind songs
I pause and listen as her words take me along
to a place from the past … ancient in time
she gifts me a legend in gentlest rhyme~

She urgently begs that I must comply
with just the whisper of ‘I got it’ sigh
She brings me to the edge of tears in flow
with the stories she tells of so long ago~

When our people begged mercy,
as the tears softly flowed
struggling times of so long ago~

Tribal people marched across the land
trying hard to keep up with the band
In the snow mounds they fell, two by two
never again this worldly plain to view
until their numbers were seriously deprived
such a small number, still alive~

The years were hard, yet the people knew
these were the hardest they’d have to go through
Spirits wept along that trail
they cry out still … we know full well~

There will come a day … we’ll hear them sigh
as Rainbow Warriors ride the night sky
Spirits will return, bringing peace to all
The time is coming … yes, the time is coming
listen and wait for the Cherokee call~

~*The sound of a kiss is not as strong as that of a cannon, but it's echo endures much longer*~

Marge, Those words were weaved in such a beautiful way describing the Trail Of Tears.
I love so much when you write from within.  You make me speechless.

Marge, my heart is tied to this.  My son and I visited Fort Sumner in NM a couple of years ago.  I know that was not the Cherokee (Navajo for those who don't know) encampment, but it gave me insight of the suffering of our Native American brothers' and sisters' ancesters and made me so, so sad.  Very touching poem, Marge.  TY for sharing it with us.   ...jo

I do love it when you write about the native Americans

I am part Indian but have no clue what kind...being adopted, all I have is paperwork saying my grandmother was half-Indian

Thank you ALL SO MUCH~
SkyeLara gifts me so eloquently ...
I feel blessed to give voice to her thoughts~

BettyLou~
There are others who ordered directly from the publisher, PublishAmerica, who have not received their books in a timely fashion~
They are good at publishing ... but not so good at delivering the goods~
(They are aware of this because I have let them know on other's orders)

TRY emailing them at support@publishamerica.com or you can call them with the request to follow through on your shipment~

I so appreciate the comments from all about the quality of the book ... I am pleased that it rests in so many hands~

Anyone that is interested can purchase the book at www.amazon.com or at www.barnesandnoble.com or at www.booksamillion.com or just call and ask your favorite local bookstore to get it for you~

Had a book signing and sales event yesterday at the DeLand Arts and Crafts Festival ... big smiles here~

Met some WONDERFUL people and sales were brisk !

A few days ago the old song "Cherokee Nation" came over the radio.  It had been a long time since I had heard that song, and it touches me as strongly as it did when I first heard it a few decades ago.

It reminded me of this poem.

Oh my goodness Marge this is fabulous!! Your spirit truly shines in these poems. I've been trying for years to trace my Native American ancestors, with no luck. My maternal great-great grandfather had an unusual first name and there seems to be no record of him at all, as if he never existed. On Dad's side, they seldom talked about the past, so information is only speculative. But if ya ever need any luck o' the Irish - THAT I can give ya! LOL

Love love love this poetry - and just ordered your book!

Caroline
