Forever In Your Heart

0 posted 2007-03-21 01:01 AM

And I come naked,
bare, to the bone,
stripped of being.

nothingness, I am,
empty as a hole,
where must I begin?

Lost in the shadows,
between yesterdays,
cobwebs and dust.

The earth revolves,
sun turns to moon,
time passes too soon.

Within my hands,
I stand holding,
two lives, stories.

Two hearts fate,
history, all but remains,
tears fall to paper.

Ink blots, dark circles,
smearing, running,
erasing valuable words.

Memorys box plays,
songs, poems, letters,
words echoeing,

I touch the pencils,
art, floods my mind,
pencils chosen for me.

Pencils inside a box,
stored for later use,
until now, needing.

Just as my heart,
put away for safe keeping,
inside memorys box,

Slowly dying within,
still, beating...beating.....beating

J. M. Barrie, the playwright, may have said it best when he wrote, “God gave us memories so that we might have roses in December.”

Excellent  choice of quotation (particularly for this poem)!:

“God gave us memories so that we might have roses in December”

Grand-fine imagery/”Romanticism” here!.....

Particularly:

“Lost in the shadows,
between yesterdays,
cobwebs and dust.”

and:

“The earth revolves,
sun turns to moon,
time passes too soon.

Within my hands,
I stand holding,
two lives, stories.

Two hearts fate,
history, all but remains,
tears fall to paper……”

If I might inject just one tiny, fledgling ‘possibility’ to consider:
perhaps the word  [that]  instead of  [but]  in the above?!....

Magnanimous and vulnerable. A joy to read.
