There were storms,
Storms so large,
It took all the might not to break the glass that my body lay on.

I was young,
Without a mask to hide behind,
But tried to rise,
Like the stars,
That seize the night,
When the clock hits midnight.

I fought the long hallways,
The death stares,
The girl I once saw, but never knew.

I was,
Well,
Broken,
So broken,
My mind was trained to cry.

If there was light,
I knew it was time,
Time,
Time to go to school,
Bare all of the fears on the face of my desk,
Without a ruler and pen to sketch.

I grew up fast,
Where others grew to the sounds of the morning bells.
I became something I could be proud of,
Something I had conquered,
Where others could merely wish they fought the fight I had taken.

This was the school I had known,
Known for eight years,
Where I was once a lost child,
Chasing smiles without living the inside of my own grief.

I no longer know them,
But my demise,
Was self inflicted,
So much so,
That the tears I shed,
Rolled so slowly,
Winter snowed for years on end.

I fought the fight,
I have lived to tell,
Now I must rejoice,
As my life will be my ultimate tale.

"That the tears I shed,
Rolled so slowly,
Winter snowed for years on end."

A very poignant read, this descriptive piercing piece touched me.  And as a reader I was relieved by the uplifting ending.

always seeking joy, adventure and romance and wishing you find the same
