Buttoned Up

when I miss you
too much
I sleep in you
well part of you
white cotton button up
touched by your skin
it now holds me
loosely close
once it held starch stiff
another feel now forgotten
memories of different day
soft now from passing time
surprisingly it is still together
but the threads are strong
yesterday-today sewn together
as my night is now embraced
with you here and away

I adore this.... I still sleep in his shirts. I also spray his cologne on my sheets sometimes.
We're not married anymore, but are still, in each others' eyes, husband and wife. We live in separate houses - and when I come back to mine, I have to wear in his shirt, regardless of whether I can manage to sleep or not.

Yes... fabulous writing, this is. I really like your style of poetry
