(Here's a new song I wrote that's both fun and upbeat yet also reflective and emotionally-charged, semi-based on my own life, yay! (

Video Arcade
By: Noah Eaton

Remember when you were growing up in the San Joaquin Valley,
when the cultural epicenter was the Strikezone bowling alley,
you would play Space Invaders until your eyes were red,
tuck yourself at night in a Pac-Man Fever bedspread,
I still look back and laugh on all those days,
in my old pair of Pumas playing Warriors of Fate,
wearing my pair of lucky terrycloth wristbands,
never budging from that square-horse stance.

Remember spring breaks when you were free,
heading off to the Billabong Surf Camp on Virginia Beach,
you and your friends would have lunch at Flipper McCoys,
roaming through the forests with Wonder Boy,
back before we had Playstation 2,
we’d go street fighting and do the paperboy’s route,
I’d spend intermissions enjoying my frozen dessert,
packed in my little lunchbox featuring Q*Bert.

When pinball wizards were the real hot shots,
and instant gratification came in every quarter slot,
and you’d burst through that double door,
battling grunts and hulks in Robotron: 2084,
invading the video arcade,
invading the video arcade…

I remember back when Fat City was FunPlex in Littleton,
I’d dominate each match-up in the Championship Sprint,
then when I was eleven, I remember playing Daytona USA,
for the first time at the Westminster Mall arcade,
my dad would take me out for a bowl of Moshi Moshi,
then we’d stop and play Kaitei Takara Sagashi,
daydreaming of Arkanoids and Asteroids,
and me a restless space cadet infinitely deployed.

Back when we’d cry each time a crocodile ate poor Frogger,
and Sonic the Hedgehog took on all the loggers,
and we made our humble pledge,
to help carry out Yar’s Revenge,
at the video arcade,
yeah, at the video arcade…

I still spend every weekend at the Ground Kontrol,
doing foot patrol on “Moon Patrol”,
living large on my New Years resolution,
recording record scores on Dance Dance Revolution,
maybe soon I’ll go Mambo A Go Go,
or become the next great Guitar Hero,
do I dare climb the latest craze’s steeple,
dueling my cards in “Mushiking: King of the Beetles”?

When our raison d’etre was maintaining high scores,
spending our free time coming back for more,
how I miss those days so innocent and bright,
as I immerse myself in the electric glow of years gone by,
humming at the video arcade,
humming at the video arcade...
