I never thought much about clouds
in hover above my African ground
but lately I’ve craved the sun’s “go-away”
and my wish has come true today.

Cool is the air without the glare
of humankind’s so many cares
and I welcome the wind of relief
from unfounded core beliefs.

But the screening of sun like I hide my love
elicits no pleasure from up above
because the internal feel a simmering stew
whenever I think of you.

I beg the depart of summer’s heat wave
to freshly renew my thoughts till the grave
but it’s all just gravy in any case thin
on the substance of soul under the skin.

Love shines best under the flesh
alive, untested, and totally fresh
but it craves the heat of a summer’s day
and a not ever wish for a “go-away” ~
because love unproved speaks of no worth
down here on this planet earth!

Thanks, Dixie!  I guess none of us are trained "down here" in how to handle love.
