Signing off

The things I don't say
should be the most important
but those half formed thoughts
are as hollow as my words.

Forgive and forget
my presence in this place;
the sin I unwittingly committed
by hoping to examine your façade.

There's a purpose behind my actions
a reason for my thoughts
but it remains a mystery
to me as well as you

You won't be seeing me for a while
and, doubtful that I'll remain
in the forefront of your thoughts
I'll let you fade from my memories.

So long.

An instant IM message
unrequited
unresolved
unanswered

So quick are we to measure
moments

These are the thoughts you bring to mind,
and please know, I am not condemning the thought,

but I wonder back, to when one would write
a letter, and weeks would go by,
wondering if it were received, if it could
even be answered,

let alone, if anyone were there.

Time moves so swiftly now....
I wonder where patience has gone to wait?

Thank you for the thought-provoking read.
