heavy hand hearkens to the shadowy
weight of woeful machinations
lightening the soul in hollows
of distant elucidations

and yet, beyond the linings
of platinum palpitations, there beats
the sound of salient salutations
coupled in measure, limited by rhyme

and slithering silently ‘neath the stoop
of the heart’s pallid porch
crawls the chameleon of anticipation
reviving the expectations

convincing the deeply down-trodden
that in darkness…there dwells illumination
