a Grandmother's story

warm current of air
lifting azure sea waters
moon’s agile ballet illuminates
in its animated waves
silvery billows drift at play
little & teeming
like a soft smile
removing soreness
doing away with discontent
ohhhh
I am lost in those eyes of sea
glowing white with extraordinary
boiling over get-up-and-go
muscular limbs
of a child’s voice
aglow

embracing cerulean phenomenon
ebon froth sends me to where sky
ends & sea embarks
that in-between place
where story telling comes forth

open-handed firmament
ardent hunger for life
melting urgently into
wooden glows
of movement
so tender
so inexplicable
is a child's life…

I watch & marvel

sincerity,
richly glistens
with perspiration
bade me pardon
whims of my own fortune
dressing reflection
with a delicate lavender
toddler's cloths
placing soul in her place
though eyes large &
sun-silvery blue
like an ageless ocean
suppressed for the occasion
calm lagoon
of excitement...discovery
skin retaining strength of will

then...
musty traditions were
expected to hold on, but
nature doubled back
when need arose
there was no horse I couldn’t ride
nor dog I couldn't train
nor mountain I couldn’t climb
yes
even
no dragon I couldn’t slay

and now
now...
the winds of December
show barnacle
splattered harsh breath
one human life
a flickering light
perhaps a nameless sailor
on the tongue of depth
calling weakly...
ma lady
mother
grand mother...
or mim

I fall in with
peaceful temperament
distilling my own name,
and my little one...
goes forth forever
from the womb of
my flesh
son
to wife
to Mallory

I will love you forever
and ever...wishing you ponies
& bunnies & yes
perhaps unicorns
to take you forward

ride...little miss
fly like sea birds
skipping or'
warm currents of air

many thanks to Margie for helping me post the pictures

of course, you've let to leave

but the point I'm trying to make,
is that if she is blessed
with the eyes and soul

gifts of heart pass a generation]

then she will follow well

Indeed a beautiful write for a beautiful child.
You must be so very proud.
Grandkids are the very best!

In the midst of winter,
I found there lives within me..
An invincible summer.

Dear LeeJ

How wonderful is the music from your heart.  You know I took the line from each stanza and found they became just what I wanted to say about what I loved within this poem.   What adorable children!

many thanks to you all, you bless me two fold.  Has anyone noticed, her little bunny's foot is broken, but the vet said, he will be fine, but they cannot set it.  I cannot wait to see them over Memorial Holiday.

Yes, indeed, she is a pip...

Unconditional love ... that is the most precious gift our grandchildren give us Grandmas, to teach us to love unconditionally with little or no effort.  At least that is the way it is for me, I have four precious little ones now.

I am chuckling here because this morning I seem to be chasing you with replying to other writer's posts.  It appears we enjoy reading similar things.  *wink wink*  And I also adored your post, "drama elegant and complicated," very powerful writing dear lady.

You are multifaceted.

always seeking joy, adventure and romance and wishing you find the same

An amazing write, as usual, especially for those denied the pleasure of grandchildren - just one of the things that money cannot buy.  You are blessed, LeeJ!
