Whiskey hurts

but see, it's all I have
on a Sunday morning

besides

all it takes is a little
less than wine
or beer

makes my face shrivel up and mouth cringe
but

what else do I have
on a Sunday morning
after 2am and the rules
(law)
say I can't buy beer till 1pm?
Well after church lets out...

I think I'll go mop the floor.
I'm still awake now. And

God isn't here
on a Sunday of all days
of my life when I need him.

Isn't that ironic?

Dixie,

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
God isn't here
on a Sunday of all days
of my life when I need him.
Isn't that ironic?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I am probably going to get hung, drawn and quartered (even by my close friends) for saying this but...

God never seems to be there when you need him most!

Over the years I have learned to rely on the living and myself (you may find this surprising as you get to know my 'religious' persuasions)

Friends, family, strangers have given me more support over the years than any God I have encountered....

Ivor,
Isn't it wonderful God did give you the support of your friends and family. Look harder....God is there, you just don't see Him.

He has a sense of humor, oh most definitely that....unfortunately it tends to be rather primitive, and one way or another, we're always the punch line.....being absent at that moment fits right into the pattern.

Honestly, Dixie, I don't know if God was there or not.

But, I do know that you write one helluva poem!

Dixie..God can only help. He can't take the bottle or can out of your hand, only you can do that. I am always here for you. God can help you find strength needed to beat this if you really want to beat it...Paul

I think I'll go mop the floor.
I'm still awake now. And

~*~

The slipslide of the mopping
is the chance and decision
one makes to have a choice
in how things will look,
and how things will be.

And you, my dear friend,
know from whereof I speak.

Write on.

Write strong.

interesting poem

maybe more ironic than you intended

god isn't available, and during the hours of church services the beer isn't available either

maybe neither of them is what is needed

thanks for sharing

Dixie - I had to smile at the comment by Shirtless because I have a feeling that he's right.  The God part is within so all you need is yourself.  Touching write nonetheless.
