howard :

                                     not a date ...

                       we're talking about practice

                                not a lottery date

                               with my soulmate ...

                      we're talking about practice

eve :

but Howard, you're already a happy cactus

why do you need me as your leading actress

i've already got a guy carrying my mattress

how can i think about marrying you when the fact is ...

howard :

hold it Eve, i'm only talking about a conversation or two

you're under no elation to pursue a relationship

                                   that under his observation

could have him wondering if he blundered

                                          into a situation

                     where the vibrations

                                of our thunder and lightning

could have him tightning his wit

to improve the fit of his Eve & 76er skit

eve :

but what about the stuff you've already written down

about how you'd love to hit enough jumpers to erase my frowns

and knit into my life all types of joyous sounds

are you sure you're not just sitting with me to rebound

admit it, you really don't need me around

you're just looking for a bit of solid ground

                                                to stand on

                                    according to your standings

you're more than capable of landing on your feet

we've yet to reach our All-Star game and you've already got friendly dames

handing you the keys to their suite

                                          [howard smiles]

now that;s what i'm talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                      the next time we greet

if we have a conversation that lasts this long

that'll be more than enough to keep me singing happy songs

                                               to your heart

                                          howard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ..........

                   this isn't over ...

but despite herself Eve couldn't help but to wonder if Howard's art

                                            was true

                                     (to be continued)

                                                                  love,

                                                                  eve & howard
