A thought,
familiar
followed me cross the lawn
down the spring
and up again
Moving faster, quicker in clever strides
above me now that melt of green
into blue horizon
breathes

Below me, to the very verge of the sea
empty soaring space of free
Granite flecks dance among waves,
silvery

I am more in reach of those places
than a thought, something on the edge
could ever be

I am more in speak of those words
than a thousand voices
claim to be

What a thing to be in flight
beyond the seeming power of pretend
Impossible to profess
the thing I would die a day
to possess

What a thought to kiss the night
Far above the thing to be admired
All I can bring you, with fire
In my heart, soars beyond
higher

A thought,
familiar
rests inside my head
Silken sheets a feathery
deep inside my bed
Comfort of full, sleepy lids
slows the rock of moon
into star’s horizon

When I reached this stanza...
that's when the writer of the poem
became Jonathan.

Fly on...and write more.

each and every line, lifted the reader to a newer place...
I felt like I was flying with my son again...it was a great day to fly to Ocean City Airport...coming in you could see the sea n' sand line for miles...
and that is where you poem took me to....
outstanding!!!!

Thanks Dixie, Karilea, Lee, Angel and Marge!

I have this recurring dream about flying (self-propulsion   so real-to-life it's hard to brush off . . .
inbetween dreams I find a little fantasizing does the trick - - almost!

Hugs, Robert

"A thought,

what a way to begin
caught me up really fast
swooped me about
had its way with me

this is lovely
