The Keeping and the Give

The sway of loving continues on
behind what seems so trite.
The years and years of past reminds
that tunnels end in light.

That even though the wishes rest
on pillowed thoughts at night,
it's there, in spirit, hypnotized,
words~~ to mind delight.

I've grown in ways that none can see.
The phantom gives me rise,
witnessing the pitch of life
before my very eyes.

Inside it swells and flames my world
inspiring soft within.
I dance the dance of yesterday
replacing what has been.

I can't go back, the path has closed,
my heart now freed to live
and sway within the loving of
the keeping and the give...

Very well done I loved this poem. Why? Has a great message. Me personally I would not change anything in my past; though at times I wish I could, but i truly believe we are constantly being molded everyday. Life is a great learning experience. Glad im not being graded (;

I so agree with our Raiders fan on this! I love the message in your words. My husband's grandfather always said - if you are too busy looking back, you won't know where you're going. Memories are lovely things ~ even the bad ones, if we learn from them and there lies the Keeping and The Give.

Wonderful writing, talented one! And great title - it drew me right in!

Thank you for all your wonderful responses.

I would have thanked you sooner, but this cough has returned to wear me out and  thinking I had some time to recuperate after my long term teaching job ended Tuesday, I was wrong.
They rehired me for the rest of the year  as a second grade teacher so now I have to figure out how to stop catching those "kiddie"  germs~~

and thanks again
