The mountainside is steeper now, without your guiding hand
The ocean cold and deeper now, with no warmth in the sand.
The grass is dry and barren since you went upon your way,
I thought it would be fleeting, but it happens everyday.

I’m looking for the words to tell you what you mean to me.
I want them to be special, as that’s what you’ve come to be.
It wasn’t meant to happen but the hand of fortune plays
The secret cards of destiny in many different ways.

There are times when I am lonely, and I whisper out your name.
It seems to help me somehow, but I miss you just the same.
The songbird greets the evening, and the sunset marks the hour.
I see your looks reflected in the petals of a flower.

I recall the morning dewdrop springing sweetly from the rose
And the calling of the songthrush as she wakes from her repose.
But their elegance is wanting, and their splendour has no cheer
Like the healing in your fingers, or your whisper in my ear.

As the twilight falls around me, and I pray a silent prayer,
I ask the Lord to watch you, and to take you in His care.
As the stars begin to twinkle, and the moon begins to rise,
I have seen a rarer beauty in the colours of your eyes..

Now the night is closing faster and my spirit’s getting low;
I ponder one last vision of the you I’ve come to know.
It’s a comfort, it’s a longing, and it fills my aching heart
Bitter-sweet my contemplation of the days we’ve been apart.

The greatest thing you can do for another is not just to share your own riches...but to reveal to him his own.

Knowing this well... and you have penned it so eloquently. What talent you have!
This exudes that aching, longing feeling.
Well done, Sir.
