Chaos – it’s chaos this side of the world
when the devil and heaven lay bets on a dream
and gleefully watch the turn, turn about,
from real to unreal perceptions of life.

A lover in feel; oh, heaven help me,
but the devil now harkened by sleep
breaks and shatters a mind’s solid base
with the hammer and chisel of faces.

The dearly departed, a child from the past,
and one known to be there but unseen,
bit players in this act of a dream
designed to implode a brain.

And after the sink of what everyone thinks
there arises the smoke of confusion
too thick and heavy to cut up and dice
into the pot of neglect.

No meaning, it seems, to the deal of unreal
that tosses and turns a restless dreamer
back into the human senses
so limited yet understandable
after the dust has settled!

Helen

I think you dream with your eyes wide open.

I don't think I can top Martie's comment, Helen.  Once again, I find you and I are on the same wavelength....reading my thoughts again, are you?!!  You pen them so well, my friend.  *hugs*....jo

"when the devil and heaven lay bets on a dream

We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers and the rulers of darkness!

Great poem. Really got a feel for it. Well written. Thank you!

The greatest thing you can do for another is not just to share your own riches...but to reveal to him his own.

what a neat write, and what a great line:

"And after the sink of what everyone thinks
there arises the smoke of confusion
too thick and heavy to cut up and dice
into the pot of neglect"

excellent...
