Listening to every heart

Valentine’s Song

Easily shattered
Fragile as a dove’s white wings
Yet trust, forthcoming
For such is hope’s slender limb
Holding to such faith as this
Life, so delicate
Yet resounds in reddest breast
With such a sweet song
Turn away not, harbingers
Return to faith on spring’s wind
Such is winter’s last folly
Fulsome play of heart
Giving take of sprites
Playing the season so well
Giving spring thus its heart beat
Easily shattered,
Even Red’s fragility
Stood the coldest test
To see him as Valentine
For he sings to one true love

Very very beautiful words and picture.
Happy Valentine's Day Karilea!

In the midst of winter,
I found there lives within me..
An invincible summer.

Karilea~
This is wonderful ... and that Cardinal is just the perfect Valentine birdie~

Reminding me that I took some of the Cardinal, just last week, way up high in my Palm Tree~

LOVE THIS ... Happy Valentine's Day~

How lovely are your words and the bird a symbol, fragile yet strong.  Happy Valentine's Day!!

I remembered either Liz or Nan telling me that this bird mates only once for life.  I think we could learn a lot from that bird, and this poem as well.  Happy Valentine's Day to you too.

This is one of the most beautifully written works I have seen for many years.
I really like your style as it is seldom found these days. You are one a particularly special genre of poet.
May this sunshine continue to warm hearts everywhere......as your poem did for me.
Thank you so much!

You just don't see her in her nest, Ed.

Truly, they do mate for life.  Shortly after I posted this yesterday, I could hear him outside my window, singing quite loudly.  I think Valentine was quite pleased...
