I ask for you mercy, your forgiveness
For your mercy inspires my wish-fullness

I am of the night truly inspired,
And of the morning sun truly on fire

I ask but for your attention
Or maybe a graceful sentence

I understand your puzzlement
Or maybe your sense of confusion
But it is not misery, nor
Is it my mystery, for it is my love
That inspires my words ashore

Out at sea, marinating
In the salted water, to one day
Inspire a homeless father,
A pitiful son, or a miserable
Daughter. Don’t wonder my
Lack of talent, yet wonder
My thoughts in life’s balance

Poetry imprisons us all
In our worlds, we are not far
I could ask to leave
But I don’t have the heart

For it is as though love is no more
For it is from within, this poetry
Fits within the larger scheme of everything

A beat of my heart, a sight of a stare
A colorful light up and a far
A beautiful child dubbed alive
Love that is ever more and a sun
That brightens your home, the melody
Of such a song, repeatedly
Is sung in my mind, reminding
Me that life is greater than
Any words placed in a song

For it is our faith,
In no more
Than the world
Around our lifeless days,
That guarantees
Our ever-lasting stay
