Can you tell me when I loved you?
Was it in the spring of youth
In dimensions of a dream
Within parameters of truth?

Do you remember where I loved you?
Was it in a distant place?
Or was it in the close and intimate
Soft shadows of my face?

How did I love you? Was I silent?
Or did oceans sound the throb
Of a heartbeat pulsing passions
Pouring from the heart of God?

Why did I love you? Was it only
An illusion of the soul
Or was love itself the snowy peak
Of life’s most sacred goal?

It was all of this and more
It was the echo sweetly heard
Of each heartbeat, of each vision
Of each movement, of each word

You’re  the lifeline that I cling to
You’re the measure of my depth
You’re the beacon for my footstep
And the reason for my breath

Your love was womb of my existence
At the moment of my birth
And survives the timeless change
Of every season of the earth

Oh Elizabeth, this is beautiful. You are one of my favorite poets. I am glad there is a way to look up our favorite poets, because I do that often.

Dear Liz...I have loved you since first I read you and more after I met you, and still within the quiet time of days I miss your ways.
