the paperwhites
by the kitchen sink
have bloomed
they think I don’t see them
bending stems
peeking out the window
I know they are watching for you

they rub dainty blossoms on glass
mindless of the cold
chuckle in excitement
as you round the corner
listen for you to open the door
...and call to me

long legged eavesdroppers

I’ve a mind to cut them off
at the stems
put an end to their voyeurism
but who can blame them

when you hold me that way
even I want to watch

perhaps I will leave them

if they allow me room
at the window

quite captivating.
seems like the speaker's anthropomorphic view of the flowers provides a buffer between her and her loneliness.
I really like the poem.
thanks for posting it.

From one Lady to another,
you have a way of making
the act of eavesdropping
a very pleasant
experience.

ah but Kate, who can blame them for wanting to peek in and steal glimpses of a love so beautiful as this??

I say let em watch, they'd just be jealous anyhow.

I adore your writing gal.
