The Howl of Snow

The thought of words have eddied
between the east and west of belief
as if an ocean might lie
between sunrise and sunset

but you do not live
in a grass skirted dream
and I no longer reside
among the clam-diggers

so here it is then, my hidden
formed thoughts of you, from
somewhere in the dream
you left in the snow

~&~

It seems you come to me, in
mid-moon, when tides are level
and you leave upon the rise
when Luna’s surges emerge strong

And it was that other night
when sky views splayed my dreams
between Luna, clouds, and snowflakes
and the wolf’s howling

when in some oh dark light,
some part of me came to the window
peering into the moment of sight
of pseudo footsteps towards my door

~&~

if you could have held me then
when I was holding my own breath
waiting for the tonal ring of love
upon this porch of dream

if you could have held me then
you would have heard the howl of wolf.

Lady...the sound and feel of this is so haunting, so full of longing...so beautiful.  I think love itself must hear the footsteps on a night such as this.

Ah, lady, you do this so very well.... I get the feeling that on some moon-drenched summer night, you could lie down in the grass and make snow-angels out of pure moonlight, that would stay until the morning sun melted them away.

had I held you close
at some time in your life
whether day or night
there would be gentle purring
before the howl of the wolf

Poet, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Hauntingly beautiful Lady~
Please don't stay away so long.

In the midst of winter,
I found there lives within me..
An invincible summer.

Dear Lady, you have returned home!

"if you could have held me then
you would have heard the howl of wolf."

~ Befitting closing words to a compelling piece of writing! Well done, m'lady!
