Whatever this is
refuses to express itself
and I am left with this feeling
of hanging in mid-air
but all the same,
it remains there.

It is easy for you to say
that you understand,
that all I have to do
is take your hand

but I am weak
and my heart is whispering
not this

no, not this....

All of the good intentions
in the world
can't make this become something
understood;
and, I know that if you could

you would
do everything in your power
to ease my pain
to make me smile

to help me feel sane,

to comfort my heart
and calm my fears.

It's not your fault
that merely the sound
of your voice
brings me to tears

and I know,

    yes I know

that you truly mean well
but whatever this is
has got me under its spell.

This whatever
is something that comes
from deep within;

I don't know when it will stop

or when and if ever
I’ll find me again.

Donna, you write in free verse with the best of pip's poets!

~ and you emote with the best of them as well!

May the winds in your life be as gentle as you yourself are!

Loving hug,

Linda

Man, it does seem that January
was the month of the "lost"
     and I know this feeling
        very well...

You and I, both, Donna. I have been trying to find myself for so long, I'm about to just give up.

Hi, Donna (well, that's what everyone else is calling you! ).

Wow.  That is an existential work if I ever saw one.  Where do I begin and you end?

It's nicely worded, with an excellent rhyme and flow to it.

I really enjoyed this one.

Most excellent Donna!

I found there lives within me..
